Like us, Nyíregyháza have also picked up 18 points in 15 rounds, thanks to our better goal difference we are ahead of Krisztián Tímár's team.
On Sunday at 14:45 we will play Nyíregyháza for the 24th time in the top division. In the 23 meetings so far, Vidi have had a massive advantage, beating Szpari 16 times with three Nyíregyháza wins and four draws. The goal difference is 43-19 in our favour.
The first top-flight meeting between the two teams took place on 13th August 1980 in Székesfehérvár and we won 2-1 with goals from Győző Burcsa and Ferenc Csongrádi. Prior to this season, we last met our Sunday opponents almost a decade ago, on 7 March 2015, also in Székesfehérvár, when we won 3-0 with goals from Vinícius, Álvarez and Nikolics. Vidi's goal-scorer does not only have fond memories of Nyíregyháza because of this, as he scored his 100th NB I goal at home to Szpari a few months earlier.
The last match against each other in the championship
This summer, on 25 August, we played a stadium inaugural match against Szpari in Nyíregyháza. Despite the home team scoring five times, the match ended in a 3-3 draw, as Nyíregyháza scored two own goals.
The highest success rate
We have won 4-0 against Spartacus at home in two consecutive seasons. In the 4th round of the 1982/83 season with goals from Lajos Májer, József Szabó, Imre Vadász and György Novath, and in the 9th round of the 1983/84 points chase with goals from Imre Vadász 2, Lajos Májer and György Novath. Gábor Horváth scored 1-1 goals in the 1983 season.
The match with the most goals was won
On 14 May 2005, the two sides played an eight-goal game in Székesfehérvár, with our team winning 5-3 against "Szpari". At the break, goals from Tamás Györök and Dániel Nagy gave us a 2-0 lead, and after the break, Norbert Lattenstein increased the lead. After Cipf's goal Vidi scored again, within seven minutes first Nagy Dániel and then Attila Kuttor scored again. In the last 10 minutes Zoltán Kenesei's double made the score 5-3.

Old friends
There are familiar names in Nyíregyháza's coaching staff and squad. Head coach Krisztián Tímár wore the shirts of both teams as a player, and he started his coaching career in Székesfehérvár, at Vidi II in 2017.
Coach Tamás Szalai has a thousand ties to Vidi, having grown up in Székesfehérvár, then played football for our team in the second half of the 1990s and the first half of the 2000s, finishing his career at Vidi II, where Krisztián Tímár was the manager. He then joined the staff of head coach Marko Nikolics, celebrating a league title in 2018, a Hungarian Cup win in 2019 and being part of our 2018 EL campaign. Later, Tamás Szalai also managed Vidi II as head coach.
As a player, Krisztián Géresi won the league title and Hungarian Cup with Vidi in 2018 and 2019, and celebrated the NB II title with Nyíregyháza last season - due to injury, his chances of playing on Sunday are slim. However, Olivér Tamás, who was brought up by FTC in 2018 and quickly became a key man for Vidi II, could be on the pitch.
After the NB II title, honest, open attacking football in the NB I
Krisztián Tímár's side confidently won the NB II championship last season, even though two years ago Szpari had to play a play-off for promotion. Interestingly, it was against Veszprém, led by Tamás Pető, that the team managed to retain their NB II status on Sunday.
After 15 rounds of this season's NB I season, Nyíregyháza have almost exactly the same stats as us. Both teams have won 5 league games, with 3 draws and 7 defeats. Our goal difference is minimally better than Szpari's: ours is 20-22 and our opponent's 21-26. We have won four times at home and drawn twice, while Nyíregyháza have won four times at home and drawn twice and lost twice. The two teams performed equally well away from home. We have won once and drawn twice and lost five times, while Nyíregyháza have also won once away from home and drawn once and lost five times.
The most successful player of Nyíregyháza with six goals is Márk Kovácsréti, who is also leading the NB I scoring list with five goals.
