Attila Fiola: We all have to fight for our place

We spoke to the new signing after he linked up with his new team.

The final day of the summer transfer window saw Attila Fiola join Videoton from Puskas Academy. He has been away with the national team in their qualification match in the Faroe Islands, which is why he only linked up with his new teammates on Wednesday.

"I know many of my teammates and I have a positive impression of the club in the short time I have been here. I hope that we can achieve our aims and play in the Champions League next year. I spoke several times with Zoltan Kovacs about the possibility of a transfer. He convinced me that I should commit myself to Videoton, which is how I decided in the end. The most important thing at the moment is to win back my form following my injury. I do not yet know whether Henning Berg is counting on me for the game against Haladas. I will do all I can to get in to the team as soon as possible. The Videoton squad is currently the strongest in Hungary, and all of the players have to fight for their place. Haladas are a big strong side so it will be a difficult game against them."

We asked Attila about the midweek international qualifier, which saw the 26 year old play the entire match against the Faroe Islands.

"We knew that we would be expecting a hard game and we had suffered against them two years ago. However, we managed to win that game. Now we will soon have matches against Switzerland and Latvia and we will need to improve in those. Naturally we would have wanted to win Tuesday's game and we had planned to win the games against the lesser sides both home and away. Now we will have to beat Switzerland at home to win back the lost points."
