The 45-year-old, who has previously worked as a player and a coach at our club, returns to Fehérvár with a history as a head coach in the NB1.
Following an agreement between Krisztián Tímár and Fehérvár FC, the 45-year-old coach will be in charge of our first team from Tuesday, and our club is planning to play next year's first division season under the guidance of our new head coach.
Krisztián Tímár was born on 4th October 1979 in Budapest. He arrived in Székesfehérvár in 2001 from BKV Előre, and between 2001 and 2003 he scored four goals in 46 NB I matches for the red and blues. After Vidi, he played in Finland, England and Vietnam, and in Hungary he played for Tatabánya, Nyíregyháza, Ferencváros, Siófok and Szeged, and he also played four times for the Hungarian senior national team.
He began his coaching career at Szeged, where he worked as an assistant coach in the NB II between 2015 and 2017, before returning to Fehérvár, where he managed the second team in the NB III for three seasons between 2017 and 2020. Between 2020 and 2022 he worked for the Hungarian Football Association, first with the U18 and then the U19 national team. In 2022 he was appointed head coach of ETO FC Győr, where he managed for 31 matches until March 2023. In the summer of 2023, he took over at second division side Nyíregyháza, where he led his team to the league title in his first season, finishing ten points ahead of second-placed Győr and returning to the top division in the summer of 2024. In the 2024/2025 season, he managed Nyíregyháza in 26 NB I league matches.
Krisztián Tímár will be assisted by Tamás Szalai, who, like Tímár, has previously worked as a player and coach for Vidi's success.
"This was an invitation from Vidi - as a resident of Fehérvár - because both my colleague Tamás Szalai and I have played and coached here before, and it was impossible to say no. We want to give our best to fight to stay in the division, we have to give 100% to everyone, we have to fight as a team, as a unit. It's very important to keep positive heads, to keep the players believing in the work they are doing. I am confident that they will continue to work with a drive that will allow us to win games. The most important thing now is to get to know the players, I will have individual meetings with the players in addition to training, I want to get to know everyone's personality as much as possible and we want to find the best line-up for the weekend. We have a philosophy of play, we have a vision, we are going to prepare the best we can for MTK and we have to fight for the points we need to stay in the league, match by match. It's a tough draw, but I have confidence in the team and in our own work that we can create new momentum. We need 100% from everyone to stay in the group," our new head coach told our website.
