Goals from Nego and Nikolic secured the three points for Vidi on Saturday evening.
Match 27 of the OTP league season saw seventh in the table Kisvarda make the visit to the MOL Arena Sosto. We have already faced them twice this season and both of those games ended in wins. Manager Joan Carrillo played the following starting eleven: Kovácsik - Rus, Musliu, Vinícius, Stopira - Pátkai, Nyári - Petryak, Houri, Nego - Nikolics.
The game started with a good chance for the visiting side following a free kick that ended with Ene headed towards the far post and hitting the woodwork and into the hands of keeper Kovacsik. Three minutes later and Tsoukalas shot at goal from 14 meters but his shot was blocked by Patkai and Rus. Vidi went ahead on 16 minutes Stopira won a heading dual and the ball fell to Houri, who neatly slipped the ball through and into the path of Nego, who from 13 meters made no mistake to make it 1-0.
In the 23rd minute, Tsoukalas showed good movement following a cross from the wing and he aimed for the corner with his curling effort, which produced a great save from Kovacsik. At the end of the first half, Houri took the ball from the right wing and cut inside, and his shot from 22 meters brought a save out of Dombó. A few minutes later, Stopira's cross was headed close to goal by Niko, with Dombo again doing well to deny him from close range. This was the last major opportunity of the first half with Vidi going in at the break leading by a single goal.
There were no changes at the break with the same eleven running out for the second period. The second half started with a chance for Kisvarda with the ball falling in front of Viana, who from 6 meters shot just wide of the goal. There were two big chances for Vidi in the 52nd minute: first Patkai shot wide from 16 meters after receiving a ball from Stopira. Then soon after Nikolic fed Petryak with a pass and his low shot from 15 meters was saved by Dombo. A quarter of an hour later and a cross from Stopira saw Nikolic just fail to make contact with it. Hodzic started a move that found Nego and his pass in front of Nikolic ended with a volley from 10 meters being saved by the keeper. Funsho was another to find himself with a good chance on goal but his effort from close range was blocked. Kovacsik saved a shot from Gosztonyi on 85 minutes, before Vidi doubled their lead moments later: Funcho sent a lovely ball in from the right which Nikolic met to confidently steer the ball into the empty net (2-0).
The four minutes of injury time did not bring danger to either goal and Vidi ran out 2-0 winners against Varda. They are next in action on Tuesday evening when they visit Honved.
