Our defender, who also made his debut in the ECL Q2 home leg against Gabala, said that the team is preparing hard and in a good mood for the return match on Thursday.
Nikola Serafimov played his first competitive match for our team last Thursday, in the Europa Conference League qualifier against Gabala SC of Azerbaijan. The Northern Macedonian defender, who joined from ZTE in the summer, has a great memory of the 4-1 win in the first leg.
"I'm very happy to have made my home debut in a competitive match for Vidi, the atmosphere was great, the support of the fans on the pitch meant a lot to us. We didn't start as we had planned, but we got some useful advice from the coaching staff at the break and were able to change our game. I think Kenan Kodro's equaliser was the most important moment, because it allowed us to go into the break a bit calmer. The second period was very good, we won 4-1, so the most important thing is that we have the match in our hands," Serafimov told our website, who also spoke about the chances of the return leg.
"Anything can happen in today's football, so we can't get complacent despite our three-goal lead, we need to be fully prepared for the return leg. I'm sure Gabala will want to turn the match around and they will play hard, but we are also prepared, we are sharp, the mood is good within the team before the return leg, our goal is to get the win away from home. I have never played in Azerbaijan, but I have played in neighbouring Armenia. There we played a national team match in a great atmosphere in front of a lot of fans, but I know that we will be playing a club team from a smaller city, so the surroundings will certainly be different. But first and foremost, we'll be concentrating on ourselves to make sure we progress confidently to the next round."
