The attention switches to the Hungarian Cup with the first leg game at Taksony.
Taksony SE and MOL Vidi FC battle in the final 16 of the Hungarian Cup. Our opponents are currently sitting in 7th place in the NB III central division.
Taksony have also played 3 rounds in the Hungarian Cup so far. They even travelled to Szekesfehervar in the first round against Ikarusz Maroshegy. They won that game 2-0 to progress to the next round against Balassagyarmat. They again won by a two goal margin and a 3-1 scoreline. Taksony then drew another third division side, Sajobabony. They beat them 1-0 to go into the hat for the next round. Mate Szilagyi has notched two goals in the cup. Another player among the goals is Roland Namquita, who has so far not found the back of the net during their winter pre-season. Adam Farkas played for Eger in the first division in 2012-13 and he has scored 4 times.
Although Vidi have played 3 league games in 2019, the NB III spring league season has so far not started. Taksony will go into the game fresh and having played a total of 9 friendly games. Their first practice match was on the 13th January against Ujpest II, which they lost 5-3. NB II side Budaors beat them 1-0 in the next game. The 19th January saw them defeat county league I side Eger SE 4-0. There was a game against second division team Monor that ended in a 0-0 draw. Two county league sides provided the opposition in their next two games. A 4-2 win against Tiszafured and a 2-1 result against Ozd. Further matches with Fuzesgyarmat, THSE-Szabadkikoto and III ker followed.
The already mentioned Farkas is part of their squad. Former FTC and Siofok player Zsombor Bene is another. Alex Ivancsics spent two seasons from 2015-2017 with NB II side Kisvarda. Tibor Babik was born in 1973 and still plays at the age of 45 and has featured in 8 NB III matches so far this season. The son of former international player Istvan Hamar is Istvan Hamar Jnr. and he has played in 7 league games.
Taksony have never before played Vidi in a competitive match.
