Juhasz continued his good presence in front of goal, while Nikolics set a new club goalscoring record with his eighth consecutive goal.
There was heavy rain on Sunday evening in Szekesfehervar, and although the Sostoi pitch was soaked in places, there was never any danger of the match going ahead. However, it also meant that the players would be sliding around the pitch. There was a minutes silence to pay respect to two people who sadly lost their lives. The first was 86 year old MTK legend Karoly Sandor, who passed away on the 10th September. Videoton goalkeeping coach Francisco Jose Ruiz Rojas sadly lost his wife, Lola in the last few days.
The big game started with a long range shot from Nikolics, but the pitch, which had puddles all over it, did not allow for free flowing football. There were very few situations in front of either goal as a result. A cross from the right on 9 minutes went over the head of the arriving Nikolics, but Oliveira at the far post could not control the ball as it slid on the wet pitch.
Ujpest had several corners during the first half without creating a threat on the home goal. Oliveira had a shot blocked on 35 minutes, but the home side were soon ahead. Vidi took the lead on 38 minutes after Stopira took a throw in on the left to Oliveira, who showed good skill to beat his defender and cross for Juhasz to rise and head an unstoppable header in to the net. This was the international defenders fourth goal of the season! (1-0)
Vinicius then came to the rescue towards the end of the first half, as he slid in to block a chance from Suljic, which saw the teams head in to the dressing rooms at half time with the home side a goal up.
The second half started really well with the second goal coming in the 51st minute. Kovacs played a lovely ball in to the path of Gyurcso, but the ball stopped in a puddle, and the winger took the ball inside and passed to the arriving Nikolics, who made no mistake as he beat the Ujpest keeper to make it 2-0.
Balajcza was in the right place to save from Gyurcso in the 63rd minute. Nikolics found himself on the floor inside the box after 80 minutes, but the referee did not judge it as a penalty. The Ujpest keeper then pulled off a really good save from Vinicius, which kept the score down. Ujpest stepped up the tempo in the final moments but without any chances. There was still a chance for the home side towards the end. Kleinheisler cut inside and shot with his right foot, but it was saved by Balajcza.
Vidi continue their fine start to the new season with this win. It is now 7 wins from 7 to keep their 100% record. The goal difference is just as impressive with 21 goals scored and just 2 conceded! Vidi are away in the next league game when they visit Haladas. They will also have a home league cup match against Vasas during the week.
