Vidi sign Bulgarian international defender

Following an agreement between Fehérvár FC and Polish WKS Slask Wroclaw, the French-Bulgarian dual national Simeon Petrov will continue his career in Vidi on loan, and we have the option to buy him.

The ideas outlined by our club convinced the Bulgarian international to move to Székesfehérvár We managed to sign the 192 cm tall defender ahead of Swiss, Israeli and Bulgarian first division teams.

Simeon Petrov was born on 12th January 2000 in Limoges, France, to Bulgarian parents. He started playing football at the local academy, before moving to GFC Ajaccio in 2018 and a year later to Strumska Slava in the Bulgarian second division, where he played 13 matches and scored 2 goals.

In May 2020, he joined CSKA 1948, newly promoted to the Bulgarian top division, where he played a total of 82 matches until the middle of the 2023/2024 season, scoring 3 goals. In his last season there, he also made his European debut in the Conference League.

In January 2024, he joined Slask Wroclav, where he played 31 matches and scored 4 goals in his two seasons with the Polish club. In the 2024/2025 season he also featured in four Conference League matches.

In November 2020, he was invited to the Bulgaria U21 national team and was a key member of the 2021/2022 European Championship qualifying squad, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 pre-season win over Albania. In total, he played 14 matches for the Bulgarian U21 national team.

He made his senior debut on 20th June 2023 in a 1-1 home European Championship qualifier against Serbia, and in November 2023 he was part of the 2-2 European Championship qualifying draw against Hungary. Since 2024 he has been playing an increasingly dominant role and has been named as a starter in several Nations League matches. He has represented Bulgaria in 9 matches so far.
