Debrecen have started to find their feet after a difficult start to the season.
Debrecen won the league title last year with 62 points, qualifying for the Champions league. They entered the competition at the Q2 stage, and were the seeded side against Northern Ireland side Cliftonville. The first leg in Belfast ended 0-0, with the return leg ending in a 2-0 success. They then came up against BATE Boriszov in Q3, and managed to win the first leg 1-0. However, they went down 3-1 in the second leg, which resulted in them entering the Europa League. Swiss Side Young Boys went through 3-1 on aggregate.
The league season started with a draw against Nyiregyhaza. They then lost against MTK. The first win came in the third league game of the season against Puskas FC. A defeat to Ujpest followed, before a win over Haladas in the fifth league game. Their indifferent start continued with two points collected from four games. They most recently beat Honved 4-0 at home. Debrecen have also won their last two league cup matches. It seems as if they have put behind them the difficult start to the season in recent weeks. Debrecen lie in seventh place in the league having scored 10 and conceded 8 goals. Three players have scored two goals so far in the form of Tamas Kulcsar, Laszlo Zsidai and L'Imam Seydi. Debrecen picked up a double over Vidi last season winning both games 2-1. Vidi last beat Loki 3-1 back in October 2012 by a 3-1 scoreline.
Debrecen's own website, dvsc.hu suggests that international defender Norbert Meszaros will miss the game through injury. Zsidai will be missing as he serves a ban for being sent off against Paks. Kulcsar could return after his suspension was completed.
