The game started very badly for us, from the first attack Fradi took the lead: a pass by Barnabás Varga was converted into the goal by Abu Fani from close range (0-1). In the 6th minute, a beautiful cross by Milán Pető was pushed out by Dávid Gróf in the air, but because of a foul the visitors were awarded a free kick. A minute later, Alex Tóth's pass was rolled into the net by Makreckis (0-2).
In the 14th minute, we were close to a penalty: Melnyik won a ball on the left, broke into the penalty area, his pass ended with a cross by Simut, but the ball was cleared off the goal line by the visiting defenders. Tamás Pető made a change; Alexander Kalandadze was replaced by Zsolt Kalmár. Gergely Nagy had to show that he was alert: first he saved Traoré's effort and then he hit Varga's shot away.
There were more chances for the Budapest side, and as the game approached the break, Ramirez's attempt and Kehinde's shot from a sharp angle were saved by our goalkeeper. At the end of the half, we managed to create several chances: Pető had two shots, the first one was saved by Gróf and the second one was fired over.
At the break, our head coach made three substitutions, replacing Simut, Holender and Melnyik with Saponjic, Milicevic and Katona. The second half also started with Abu Fani trying his luck, but fortunately no goal was scored. In the 56th minute the match was open! Stefanelli won a penalty, which Bálint Szabó scored (1-2).
Ferencváros immediately stepped up, tried to restore the two-goal difference, but were unsuccessful. There were a lot of bad passes, which didn't help the continuous play. In the 67th minute, Milan Pető was replaced by Mátyás Kovács. In the 74th minute, Serafimov and Cirkovic clashed, both received yellow cards, and as it was the second one for our North Macedonian defender, we were reduced to a man down.
In the 85th minute, the Green and Whites took advantage of their man advantage: Varga's shot was blocked by Petrov, the ball was passed to Ben Romdhane, who curled the ball into the far post (1-3).
FTC quickly took a two-goal lead, and in the second half there was a glimmer of hope with Szabó's shot, but Serafimov's sending off and Ben Romdhane's goal decided the game.
