An exciting match lies ahead at the weekend with Újpest visiting.
Saturday's match will be the 125th first division match between the two clubs. In the 124 meetings so far, we have won 51, lost 47 and drawn 26. The goal difference is 188-179 in our favour, which is a remarkable average of three goals per game. Another interesting fact is that this will be the 100th NB I match in the six-year-old new Sóstói Stadion and the first one was played against Újpest on 21 November 2018.
The current badge of Újpest FC bears the year 1885, as this is when the Újpest Gymnastics Club was founded - where initially gymnastics, then fencing and athletics were the activities of UTE - and football was established in Újpest 14 years later, in 1899.
In 1901, the National Championship started in Hungary, where Újpest was promoted to the second division. The club's football team was promoted to the first division in 1905, from where it was relegated at the end of the 1910/1911 championship, but was back in the top flight a year later. Since the 1912 championship, Újpest have been in the top division continuously, becoming the Hungarian record holders.
After 13 rounds, with 5 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats, the purple and white team sits in 6th place in the table with a 17-12 goal difference, which means they are directly ahead of us. After FTC, Újpest FC have conceded the second fewest goals in the league.
In the summer, several players and coaches moved to Újpest from Vidi. In addition to Gergényi, Karamoko (who left after his loan contract expired and then went on loan to Újpest), Besé and Fiola, last year's coaching staff also includes head coach Bartosz Grzelak, coach Johan Sandahl, goalkeeper András Elbert and fitness coach Ádám Száraz
Our team has played six home games so far, winning four of them and drawing one, as well as losing only once. Újpest FC have lost three of their six away games so far, winning two and drawing one.
The most successful player of Újpest FC is Matija Ljujic with six goals, who together with Colley from Felcsút also leads the NB I scoring list.
