Match Report: Vidi comfortably win away to remain unbeaten in the league

Vidi led 2-0 at half time with goals from Kovacs and Huszti. Anel Hadzic scored a third goal in the second half to make it 3-0.

Tuesday's success against Malmö in the Champions League was followed by a NB I league game on Saturday. Vidi were up against 100% Honved, who had made a perfect start to the new season with four wins from four. Ferencvaros dropped 2 points in their 1-1 draw with Paks earlier in the evening.

The game kicked off in a fast tempo and both the visiting central defenders were booked early on and within 4 minutes of the game starting. The 7th minute saw a corner from Heffler find the head of Vadocz, who sent his header the wrong side of the post. Uzoma then brought down Nikolov inside the box and the referee awarded Vidi a penalty and also booked the defender. Huszti stood behind the ball and aimed for the bottom left, but keeper Grof guessed correctly and saved the spot kick. A cross on 17 minutes from Danilo was met by a shot from 15 meters from Gazdag, but his effort wide.

The tempo slowed down in the minutes that followed and the game was mainly played in the middle of the pitch. There was a change of pace on 26 minutes when Hadzic did well to release Nikolov on the right, who controlled the ball and played it into the centre for the arriving Kovacs to cooly find the back of the net (0-1). It was Kovacs' third league goal against Honved and only Danko Lazovic has scored more than him with four goals.

Honved were reduced to 10 men after 38 minutes when Batik kicked out at Kovacs, who fell to the floor. The referee showed a straight red card. The man advantage was 2 minutes old when Vidi doubled their lead. Lazovic played a great low ball through the defence to Huszti, who kept his composure to hit a shot with the outside of his foot from 8 meters into the back of the home net (0-2).

The second half kicked off with a chance for Honved. Heffler went forward and sent his shot from 16 meters over the bar. Hadzic had an effort at the other end moments later as he connected with a cross, but Groff saved but the rebound fell to Hadzic who made no mistake to make it 0-3. Nego won a free kick after 59 minutes on the right side. Huszti curled the ball forward and Lazovic flicked his header on to the bar. A Huszti corner two minutes later was headed at goal by Patkai, but Grof jumped to tip the ball over the bar

Zsombor Berecz came on for his first team debut after 67 minutes. Honved player Barath saw his header hooked off the line by Nikolov following a corner. Berecz had a chance after 75 minutes as his shot from 13 meters was saved by Groff. Vidi comfortably saw out the remaining minutes of the game and picked up a good away.

Vidi are next in action on Wednesday in the Champions League Play Off against AEK Athens. That game will kick off at 21,00pm in Budapest.
