Our women’s team secured a convincing victory in the third round of the NB I, thanks to goals from Szalay, Bognár and Németh.
Our women’s senior team travelled to face Szekszárd FC in the third round of the Simple Women’s League NB I. Head coach Péter Andorka fielded the following starting eleven: Major – Kövesdi, Bolboaca, Tóth, Kántor – Kovács La., Pintér – Szalay, Bognár, Feil – Nagy.
Our team took the lead in the 13th minute when Gyöngyvér Szalay scored from a through ball – she fought hard for the ball with some aggressive play before keeping her cool to score the goal (0–1). The score remained unchanged until half-time; we went into the break with a one-goal lead, whilst the game remained evenly balanced on the pitch.
Shortly after the restart, we doubled our lead: in the 49th minute, our captain, Petra Bognár, scored following a fine solo run (0–2). Our head coach freshened up the team with substitutions after an hour of play, bringing on Tamás first, then Németh, and finally Janus. The final score was sealed in the 93rd minute by Zsófia Németh, who had come on as a substitute; following a superb pass from Janus, she calmly slotted the ball into the net (0–3).
Our girls played well throughout the match and ultimately secured a confident 3-0 victory, meaning that after three rounds they sit in 7th place in the table with two wins and one defeat. They have two league matches coming up this week, the first of which is at home against PMFC on Wednesday at 5 pm.

Manager’s assessment
“In the first half, after taking the lead, we sat back on our lead a little, gave the opposition too much space and our play became rushed. After the break, having corrected the key mistakes, the girls played with much greater precision and confidence on the ball, creating scoring chances from good build-ups. I saw several excellent individual performances on the pitch, and as a team we defended compactly. We deservedly took all three points from Szekszárd" – head coach Péter Andorka told our website.
