MARIO SIMUT

"So far the focus has been mainly on physical preparation"

We talked to our young player Mario Simut about the first days of the training camp and the friendly match against NK Brinje Grosuplje on Friday in Umag.

The third day of training at the training camp in Croatia, this morning you worked in the gym and in the afternoon you trained on the pitch. How do you feel about the training sessions of the last days?

This one is going as usual in training camps, with lots of training and a heavy workload. The last few days have been characterised by two training sessions a day plus conditioning, so I'm a bit tired, but I'm feeling good. On Friday we have our first training match against a Slovenian second division team, which I'm looking forward to.

NK Brinje Grosuplje will be our first opponent. What kind of match do you expect?

We prepare less for the opponent, but I think we will face a tough and aggressive team. I expect they will be looking for a lot of duels. We want to put in as good a performance as we can, this will be our first game of the year, it's important for everyone to get back into the rhythm of the game. I would also like to "max out" my sprints and runs, and of course it always feels good to win, we want to start the year with a win.

How much time have you had to get to know the area, how much time do you have between training sessions?

We haven't had that much free time, but we spend the time between training sessions with our teammates in a good atmosphere, we play cards, darts and teqball, but it's also very important to get the right amount of rest to be ready for training and matches. So far, the focus has been mainly on physical preparation, but this will eventually shift to tactics. We had a tactical meeting today, and our aim is to correct last year's mistakes in this area as well.
