Goals from Burcsa and Szabó saw Vidi lead 2-0 after 38 minutes, but the match referee abandoned the match after 67 minutes due to the fog.
A worthy ending to the November 7th celebrations for the city and surrouding areas for supporters was the UEFA cup match between Videoton and PSG. Youngsters with red and blue scarves around their necks, waving flags came out in the streets of Fehervar, singing songs and banging on the drums. The Sostoi stadium was packed to the rafters with 25,000 inside to watch the match.
The visitors began with a tempo that brought the reliable Videoton defenders a few heavy moments. The French side closed down the space for the Hungarian players.
They ran without stopping, appearing everywhere. Susic was the centre forward and the biggest French star curling the ball in with a big shot on 25 minutes, which keeper Disztl saved. The Vidi keeper parried the ball, but Couriol blasted over from 3 meters out, which proved to be a deciding moment.
Then Videoton came back in to it! A waiting Burcsa headed the ball in to the right corner after 36 minutes, and then things got better two minutes later. Majer won a penalty, which Szabo converted to make it 2-0.
Manager Ferenc Kovacs was the last man to come out after half time with a satisfactory look on his face. "Is everything now OK?" - asked several people. "There is still 45 minutes left!" Sadly, there wasn't so many minutes left...
The fog decsended on the stadium suddenly. It arrived insidiously, with one of the goals disappearing and then the other. Schmidhuber went over to the linesman, and after a short chat the game was abandoned.
The home side were angry, while the smiling French players returned back to the dressing room.
