Debrecen scored the only goal in the second half

It was the weekend's big match with first against third in the OTP league. In the end a goalkeeping error settled the match, giving Debrecen the three points, which saw them keep their unbeaten record in the first division this season. Videoton were left wondering how Debrecen escaped with the points, after the home team enjoyed the majority of possession, while playing the better football over the ninety minutes.
Vidi lined up with a settled side, with one change in the defensive back four, with Oliviera coming in at right back in place of Brachi. Paulo Sousa opted for Nikolics up front, with the striker currently enjoying hot form. A good crowd turned up at the Sostoi with over 8,000 hoping for a real entertaining top of the table match. The game kicked off in fine footballing conditions, on a good pitch and in the 20c spring sunshine. There was an early yellow card for Gyurcso, after he was judged to have gone down easily. Caneira went close with Videoton's second corner of the match after 8 minutes. Bozovic punched away a Debrecen corner after 10 minutes, with the match beginning at a good pace.
Gyurcso saw a good free kick go over the bar after 20 minutes, with Vidi threatening to find the important opener. Bozovic did well to palm away a Selim free kick on 22 minutes. Vidi went even closer two minutes later after Nikolics headed a Gyurcso corner, forcing Novakoic to save very well. The keeper then needed treatment after colliding with a Vidi player. It was an eventful few minutes for the visiting keeper, and he was booked for time wasting by the match official. Debrecen began to see more of the ball towards the end of the first period, but without really threatening the home goal. There were no more chances on either goal as referee Ivanyi blew for half time.
