Fifth-placed DVTK visit the Sóstó on Sunday

This is the fourth time this season that we will play the side from Miskolc - the third time at home - and our team has won the two matches at home so far.

On Sunday at 12:30, DVTK visit the Sósto. Our opponent was founded 115 years ago, on February 6th 1910, DVTK. In the early days, the club was only involved in football, but after that, more and more sports were played within the club, which for economic and political reasons also became known as DiMÁVAG, Diósgyőri Vasas and the Diósgyőri Ironworks Exercise Club - reads dvtk.eu.

This will be the 82nd match between the two teams in the top division. Of the 81 games so far, 44 have been won, 11 draws and 26 Miskolc victories. The goal difference is 132-83 in our favour. So far this season, we have met DVTK in two league and one MOL Hungarian Cup match. We won 3-1 at home in the league and 2-1 in the cup, while we suffered a 1-0 defeat in Miskolc in the autumn 13th round.

Following the home defeat to Nyíregyháza in February, DVTK head coach Vladimir Radenkovic was sacked. He was replaced by Valdas Dambrauskas, who had already played against Vidi in the summer, when he was the head coach of Omonoia from Cyprus. In the UEFA Conference League, we lost 1-0 away and 2-0 at home.

Dambrauskas made a good debut in the NB I, as DVTK beat league leaders Puskás Akadémy 2-1 at home, but in the previous round, our opponents on Sunday were beaten 2-0 by Paks, also in Miskolc.

Diósgyőri VTK's top scorers are shared by three footballers with four goals each: Acolatse Elton-Ofoi, Edomwonyi Osaige Bright and Rakonjac Marko.

We won against DVTK for the first time in the NB I

Our team first played a league match in Miskolc on 28 August 1968, with the home side winning 2-0. However, this was not the first league match between the two teams, as a few months earlier, on 10 March 1968, we hosted DVTK in Székesfehérvár, and won 1-0 with a goal from Karsai. Karsai was the most successful Vidi player against DVTK, scoring a total of nine times in league matches. That 1-0 win was the first home NB I match in Vidi's history and also the first NB I win in Vidi's history.

Ferenc Horváth scored two league goals for DVTK as a Vidi player, but also scored for Vidi when he played for DVTK

In 1992 we beat DVTK 3-0 in Székesfehérvár. Interestingly, the visitors' head coach at the time was István Sándor, the father of György Sándor, who later won two league titles with Vidi. The first goal was scored by Ferenc Horváth, who has played for both teams and coached both Vidi and DVTK.

In summer 2005, our team suffered a one-goal defeat in Miskolc. The interesting fact of the meeting was that it was Ferenc Horváth, who had just transferred from Vidi to DVTK that summer, who scored the winning goal from a penalty.

The '99 CL final was relived ten years ago in Miskolc

The last Champions League final of the 20th century was won 2-1 by Manchester United with Bayern Munich leading 1-0 in the 90th minute, but the English side came back in the three-minute extra time - just like Vidi did in Miskolc 10 years ago in the summer of 2015.
